The Financial Advisor – a note on Jargon

jargon

Hey, med student bro! How’s your net worth looking nowadays? I’ve been thinking of dollar cost averaging into a total return stock market index-linked ETF in my tax-advantaged accounts, but I’m not happy with the level of intra-asset class diversification within the fund. Maybe it’s the market cap weighting they’re using? Not to mention I find the small hedge fund allocation a bit unsettling. Maybe I should consider de-risking a bit and adding an inflation-linked bond index fund as well? However, the bond yields have been on a downward trend recently since the rate cuts so I’m not too sure.

Sounds confusing, right?

In the same way that “the patient was found to have an acute right hemiparesis with a Broca’s aphasia, likely due to a left MCA territory infarct secondary to ischaemic or thromboembolism as opposed to hemorrhage, given the comorbidities which included a history of CT angiogram confirmed coronary atherosclerosis and bilateral femoral DVT’s ob Doppler, having defaulted anticoagulation therapy ” sounds like a load of confusing jargon to others but makes perfect sense to you, so too will the aforementioned jargon after far less reading than you’d imagine. A couple of months of taking some time to read a few short books, and read up on a few topics is more than enough.

Do not be deterred!
